- Taiwan's
MOEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) has official established a company engaging
in WiMAX system integration business in September 2010 with Fujitsu, Intel, Mitsubishi,
and NEC, according to a September 18, 2010 report by the Economic Daily News of
Taiwan. Intel is projected to provide an initial capital around US$3 million.
Fujitsu, Mitsubishi, and NEC are expected to inject a total of US$5 million into
the new WiMAX company.

to the data released by Taiwan's NCC (National Communications Commission), the
number of WBA (WiMAX Broadband Access) subscribers in Taiwan reached 20,000 in
August 2010, according to a September 28 report by the iThome Online of Taiwan.
It is reported that promotions of WiMAX service by WiMAX carriers of Taiwan
have strongly contributed to the WiMAX subscriber base growth in August.

KT and Intel announced on September 30, 2010 that the two companies will
jointly expand the WiMAX-based WIBRO service in Korea, according to a press
release by Intel. It is reported that Intel's global investment organization
Intel Capital has injected US$20 million in WIC (WIBRO Infra Co). WIC is a
joint venture established by Intel, KT, Samsung, and KBIC. KT is projected to
provide WiMAX coverage throughout the entire Korea by March 2011, covering 82
cities and serving 85% of the total Korean population, according to the same
source.
